Geyikkosan Beach

Geyikkoşan is a promenade located 2 km away from Samsun/Alaçam. Every year on the day of Hıdırellez (May 6) festivities are held in Geyikkoşan. In these festivities, amateur and national wrestlers from all over Turkey are invited and oil wrestling competitions are organized. It is said that the reason for these festivities is based on a 600-year-old legend. According to the legend, an Arab army commander named Deer Baba used to leave all his work on May 6 and slaughter sheep, lambs and cows in that location and give a feast to the poor people. There is a tomb of Geyik Baba in this grove on the seashore. Geyikkoşan beach has a clean beach, a grove of sycamore, poplar and pine trees.
