Millet han
The building belongs to the group of two-story, single courtyard inns within the Ottoman inn architecture. It was built in 1575 as Keçeciler Bedesten (other names are Bedesten-i Atik, Karanlık Bedesten) during the period of Antep Principality of Lala Mustafa Pasha, the Conqueror of Cyprus, and later on, with additions, it became a caravanserai with the Pazar Hamam to the east, Bıçakçı Bazaar to the west, Salaba mouth to the south, Kazaz Bazaar and the castle to the north. In 1890, the upper floor was added and the inn, which took its present form, was recorded as “Aziziye” before the Republican period. During Atatürk's visit to Gaziantep, the name of the inn, which was wanted to be changed to Atatürk Inn, continued its course in history as Millet Inn after the great leader's words “Let this inn be the inn of the nation, not mine”. Today, it is one of the important stops on the Culture Road as a touristic handicraft shops and recreation area.
