Istanbul's fortunes changed in 1453. Of course, it was not only the owner of the city that changed. The new owners of the city, namely us, respectfully added ourselves to this city of thousands of years. A new Istanbul was born. With its culture, sounds, spirit and beauty, Istanbul became the identity of our country and civilization. For example, we called our Turkish Istanbul Turkish. We put Istanbul yeast into the cities we founded, we carried the dough of other cities to Istanbul. The most beautiful books were written here, the most beautiful songs were composed here, the most beautiful movies were shot here.

Now the heart of this great culture has begun to beat in a new place. As of 2018, Nevmekan Sahil, established in Üsküdar's old marriage office building, has become one of the important venues of Istanbul culture and the art of living Istanbul. Nevmekan, which was first opened in 2016 with the restoration of the old IETT garage in Bağlarbaşı, is also one of the best examples of the idea of Millet Kıraathan.
