Çekmeköy
Çekmeköy is a district located on the Anatolian Side of Istanbul. Çekmeköy, which was previously a municipality affiliated with Ümraniye, was formed in 2009 when the legal entities of Ömerli, Alemdağ and Taşdelen first stage municipalities ended and 17 neighborhoods and 5 villages affiliated to these municipalities joined. The population of Çekmeköy, where 135,603 people live in an area of 148.08 square kilometers, was 75,423 before it became a district, but it was 13,523 in 1990, 37,502 in 2000, 70,683 in 2007, and 248,859 in 2017. This population consists of 125,220 men and 123,639 women. In percentage terms: 50.32% are men, 49.68% are women. Beykoz is located in the northwest of the district, Şile is in the northeast, Ümraniye is in the southwest, and Sancaktepe and Ömerli Dam are in the southeast.
