Cevizdibi Canyon

Cevizdibi Canyon is a natural canyon and hiking destination located in Asmapınar Neighborhood of Yakakent district in Samsun, Türkiye. Situated within the Çamgölü Forest, the canyon is known for its natural rock formations, stream bed, small waterfalls, natural pools, and rich vegetation. Located approximately 13 kilometers from Yakakent town center, Cevizdibi Canyon is one of the notable natural attractions in the region.

Natural Features

Cevizdibi Canyon extends along the natural valley formed by the Cevizdibi Stream and offers an impressive route for nature walks and outdoor activities. The hiking trail is approximately 7–8 kilometers round trip and includes sections ranging from moderate to challenging difficulty.

Along the canyon route, visitors can encounter layered rock formations, unusual geological structures, small caves, water crossings, and natural pools. The surrounding forest landscape reflects the characteristic lush vegetation of the Black Sea region, creating a peaceful environment for hiking, nature photography, and wildlife observation.

Nature Tourism and Ecotourism Potential

Cevizdibi Canyon has become increasingly popular among nature enthusiasts and is considered one of the emerging nature tourism destinations in Samsun. Its combination of forest landscapes, streams, rocky canyon formations, and hiking opportunities makes it an attractive destination for visitors interested in outdoor activities and ecotourism.

As part of Samsun's 2026–2030 Tourism Action Plan, an ecotourism route connecting Çamgölü Forest Park and Cevizdibi Canyon is planned. The canyon and surrounding Çamgölü area are also being considered for further development as a nature-based tourism destination.

Hiking and Visiting

Some sections of the canyon route follow the stream bed and involve uneven and challenging terrain. For this reason, visitors are advised to wear suitable outdoor footwear, carry appropriate hiking equipment, and, where necessary, explore the area with an experienced local guide.
