Fakıllı Cave

Fakıllı Cave is located in Fakıllı village, 8 km southeast of Akçakoca district of Düzce. It has been registered as a first degree protected area by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Regional Board of Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets. The total length of the cave, named after the village where it is located, is 1,017 m and the area open to visitors is 350 m. There are galleries, stalactites and stalagmites going in various directions inside the cave, which has natural features. Especially the areas known as the white room are rich in dripstone. There are sinkhole entrances and a significant amount of water inflows into the cave during rainy periods. Having the shapes and structures that characterize the multi-period development, Fakıllı Cave is a semi-active cave. Due to its location close to the surface, it has a humid, hot and cool air with great differences in summer and winter seasons. It is said that the air of the cave is good for asthma and shortness of breath. The area around the cave is used as a picnic area.
