Tekkeköy Caves Archaeological Valley is an archaeological site located in the Tekkeköy district of Samsun, whose settlement history dates back to the Old Stone Age.Tekkeköy Caves, which was declared a protected area in 1977, has been worked on in recent years in order to bring it into the tourism economy and was opened to visitors in the 2013 summer tourism season. After being opened to tourism, the caves attracted the attention of French archaeologists. Spread over an area of 360,000m2, only 96,000m2 of the caves have been opened to visitors, but it is planned to organize all areas in the future. There is also a Hittite road, Phrygian castle ruins and old Greek houses around the caves. Although no work is being done for the Hittite road and Phrygian castle ruins, it is planned to restore the old Greek houses and open them to visitors. Three of these houses have been restored and only one is operational.
On March 1, 2014, Tekkeköy Caves Archaeology Valley Museum House, which was created by restoring one of the three registered old Greek houses in Tekkeköy Caves Archaeology Valley, includes materials related to life in and around the caves, pottery pieces and sculptures found during excavations in the caves. The reason why the museum house, which is Turkey's first imitation museum, is known by this name is that the materials exhibited are produced specifically for the museum based on the finds.
