Akarçay Culture Park
Akarçay is a river that runs through the middle of the city in Afyon. The lake, which used to be a swamp, is known for its bad smell and appearance; it was even known as "Kokarçay" by the people. Finally, a large life park was built in and around the river, which was brought to the agenda by the municipality in 2013 and brought to tourism with a brand new project. Akarçay Culture Park, which has now become a living space where people can relax and have a good time, has become one of the symbolic places of Afyon. Today, around the Akarçay River, there are playgrounds for children, viewing terraces, hiking, promenade and picnic areas. You can go on pleasant tours on the river with rafts, boats, canoes and sea bikes. In addition, free wireless internet service is provided in the park. In addition, the river, which started to dry up in May, is able to maintain its water level in summer and winter thanks to the work of the DSI institution. Therefore, the people living around get rid of the marsh landscape they see when they look at the river.
