Wind Vanes (Bozcaada)

Bozcaada Wind Vanes

Perhaps the most enchanting sunsets you will ever see in your life await you at the western end of the island. It has become a tradition on the island to visit the western cape to end the day. Some take their place with a picnic basket and sun loungers, while others take their place with just an island wine towards the sunset.

Minibuses departing from the center every day in the summer period around the island stop here until the sun goes down.

Wind Turbines

Turbines, which started to produce electricity in 2000, constitute Turkey's 3rd wind farm. Energy is produced here, which is 30 times the consumption of the island. Enough electricity for 30,000 people is sent to the mainland under the sea. Compared to a coal-fired power plant that would produce the same energy, the oxygen savings are equivalent to 82,000 trees per turbine. In other words, 17 turbines save a forest of 1,400,000 trees. Only one of the turbines is enough to meet the energy needs of the island.
