Wood Burning Art

The name pyrography, which is the technique of writing by burning wood, takes its name from the Greek words pur (fire) and graphos (writing). It means to write with fire.

Again, pyrography, which is a technique of drawing by burning wood, is similarly named.

In short, this art is based on burning wood, in other words etching, by any suitable tool or machine that generates heat. Different tones can be obtained depending on the temperature of the tool (usually soldering iron) or the machine used in burning the wood, and a result in brown-black-tones, which we know as sepia, is obtained.

While it can be improvised on wood, it can also be worked on by passing over the shape with a soldering iron after a certain writing or shape is copied onto the wood with tools such as carbon paper, laser printer, etc. No matter how much a copy is used, the artist's dexterity, patience and experience are very important here. The fact that the soldering iron sits on the wood for more than half a second, the correct temperature setting or impatience is evident.
