Artist Ziya Ramoğlu Culture and Art House
He was born in 1932 in Trabzon's Of district. The academic career of the artist began in the 1950s when he attended classes at the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts as a guest student with an exam. His first cartoon was published in Dolmus magazine in 1956 and his drawings were published in Varlık magazine. In the same years, he took his first step into the world of humor with the exhibition "Caricature Essays", which he opened in Trabzon. A new era began in his career with the scholarship he received in 1959 from the art school "Ecole ABC de Desin" in Paris. After his elder brother Salih Zeki Ramoğlu, who was invited to Paris to work in the French press through the school, but was a DP Trabzon Deputy, was arrested by the military coup government on 27 May, the family was banned from going abroad. Therefore, he could not evaluate the study proposal from France. The artist's professional identity began with the opening of his first exhibition titled "Caricature Essays" in Trabzon and his work with Hayat, the most popular magazine of the time, in the 1960s. He brought the "Floating Exhibition" together with art lovers in the tour organized by the Turkish Press Club in 1971 with the Ankara ship and covering the Mediterranean ports of Europe. He gained an international identity with the contract he signed with the cartoon agency "Rothco Cartoons Inc" in the USA. His cartoons have been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, Times, Washington Post. These studies continued until the end of the 1980s. His art life, which continued with international awards and personal exhibitions at home and abroad, continued in 1975 with the publication of the cartoon book "Parola Aşk", the first of its kind, in the pink humor genre. There were no speech bubbles in his cartoons. His lines were unwritten, that is, they were produced in a universal language. He drew mostly "peace" cartoons. He continued his professional art life in fine arts painting, photography and caricature for more than 40 years. Due to the health problems that started later, he had to take a break from his studies unwillingly. He passed away on 11 November 2007.
