Ayvacık has made its name known with its carpets. This region, which has a rich history, is also rich in ethnological and artistic terms. When the culture of the Turkmen tribes who settled in the region before and the cultural characteristics and richness of the Manav, Pomak, Bulgarian, Bulgarian, Circassian, Yörük, Tahtacı, Çepni, Alevi and Saman people who came later blended together, the social and cultural framework of Çanakkale today emerged.
Traditional Hand Weaving is the most deeply rooted tradition of the local people since Troy. When you visit the houses in Ayvacık and its villages, you can see that most houses have looms (carpets, rugs, weaving). Although these looms are not always used, they are always at hand.
Carpets and rugs are the traditional weavings of the region. Weaving types such as çarpana, sili (zili), aba, felt, shayak, Adances woven with silk, linen and cotton yarn are woven in the region.
