Carpet Weaving
It is inevitable that Erzurum, formerly known as 'Kalı-Kala'/'City of Carpets', yields rich examples of carpet art. The historical Erzurum carpet business, in which the pattern, material, technique, color and composition understanding of the Asian Turkish carpet tradition, which has been going on since Pazirik Carpet, has been continued in recent years. It is tried to be kept alive in the Public Education Directorate and Atatürk University Fine Arts Faculty Carpet Atelier, and very vivid carpet samples are produced in terms of color by using root dyes. Turkish knot (Gördes) is used in these carpets. Dragon, son stamp, earring motifs are widely preferred. Dark blue, red, brown, cream and blue colors are used in carpets whose material is entirely wool.
