Cradle Making
Cradles, which are produced as touristic items today, draw attention with the use of paint. In addition to cradles made to put babies to sleep, it is seen that cradles made in smaller sizes are also used as toys. Chestnut and walnut trees were preferred in the construction of the cradles to be durable. The cradles are decorated with wooden beads. The cradles, which are formed by hammering together the brightly painted units, are famous for their versions that make a sound when rocked, with rings made of hornbeam and chestnut wood. Hamdi Soylu still practices this art in the Akören village of Gürgentepe Mahallesi.
