Endemic Grasses of Düzce

In Düzce, which is very rich in herbaceous species, pelemir grass and saffron are the most well-known species. Pelemir grass, an endemic species specific to the Düzce plain, lives in the habitat areas on the valley slopes of the Sarıçam Forests. Saffron, also known as Two Flowered Saffron, is found in open and meadow areas in the Sakarca and Sinekli plateaus at an altitude of 1400-1500 meters on Elmacık Mountain.
