Gilaburu
Gilaburu (viburnum opulus) is a type of tree that bears red colored, chickpea-sized fruit. It is mostly grown in the Central Anatolia region. It is grown on the banks of rivers and where water is plentiful. Gemerek gilaburus is grown in gardens as well as its wild forms on the banks of streams.
Gemerek gilaburu is fleshy, juicy, thin-skinned and coarse-grained, and the yield of gilaburu trees in the region is high. Gemerek gilaburus trees are small trees, sometimes in the form of a bush, reaching up to 4 meters in height. Fruit productivity per tree is about 8.4 – 10 kg. It begins to bear fruit 3 years after planting. Due to its deep shoots, it can live up to 300 years. At the end of summer, spherical bunched fruits are formed. Each bunch contains about 30-40 fruits. Juice efficiency is around 43%.
