Glassmaking and Pottery

In the Serinhisar, Sarayköy, Tavas and Çivril districts of Denizli, jugs, earthenware cups, jars, flower pots, etc. There is a tradition of “Glassmaking and Pottery” in which products are produced. Since red soil is abundant in the region, it plays an important role in the development of this art as a raw material. Earthenware cups are still widely used because they keep the water cold. The traditional ceramic art consisting of pottery production as in the Hittite Period, one of the ancient civilizations of Anatolia, in the Medet (Village) District of Denizli's Tavas District is called Terracotta. Although the history of the terracotta art is not known exactly, it is said to date back to the Hittites. The main thing in terracotta is that the ceramic is thin and unglazed. Terracotta is not like glazed ceramic, it is quite difficult to paint and it is natural. The fact that the ceramic is very thin and mixing the clay with the clay, painting the soil with the soil and painting is the mastery of the work.
