Gökyay Foundation Chess Museum
Gökyay Foundation Chess Museum is a museum located in Altındağ district of Ankara. In the museum, which is established on an area of approximately 1,000 square meters; 723 chess sets from 111 countries are exhibited. The chess collection, which Akın Gökyay, the founder of the foundation, started in 1975, entered the Guinness Book of Records on January 31, 2012; It was the first and only registered chess collection in Turkey. Chess sets that reflect the cultural characteristics of the countries they are taken from include thematic sets such as Harry Potter, Asterix and the Smurfs, as well as sets that reflect historical and political events. In the collection; There are chess sets made of different materials such as wood, metal, herringbone, marble, soapstone, felt and polyester.
