Gülağaç Wicker Basket Making

The saddles, which are unique to Gülağaç with their unique knitting technique and are generally used for women's storage and carrying containers, draw attention with their artistic aspects. Although the work of weaving baskets from wicker, like many other handicrafts, is defeated by the tools of the modern age, basketry is kept alive with the increasing tourism activities in the region. The most important feature of these saddles is that the reeds are knitted with the local binding technique. The saddles, which are the product of a tradition of hundreds of years, are made from a reed type called Hasır, which is unique to the region and found on the lake shore in Gülağaç.
