Horon
Horon is one of the most iconic cultural traditions of Trabzon and the Black Sea region. This energetic folk dance reflects the spirit, unity, and strong cultural identity of the local people. Performed in groups, dancers link arms or hold hands while moving in synchronized steps to fast-paced traditional music.
The dance is typically accompanied by regional instruments such as the kemençe and davul, creating a lively rhythm that drives the quick footwork and sharp movements characteristic of Horon. Each variation of the dance reflects local customs and traditions unique to different Black Sea communities.
