Jirkan Kilim

Jirkan Kilim, a handicraft unique to the region, is also produced in Siirt. Great attention is paid to the quality of the Jirkan Kilim and its hand-made design. Natural sheep wool and fleece are supplied as weaving thread, and the weaving thread obtained after washing, combing, spinning with kirman (transforming the wool into a thread) is dyed with a completely natural root dye obtained from various plants. The weaving process is produced entirely by hand on iron kilim weaving looms. Since the pure wool and root dyes used in weaving are natural raw materials, the economic life of the products is very long, the colors become more alive as the days pass and the rug is washed. Rugs dyed with root dye are quite expensive. Although its original dimensions are 130 cm x 220 cm, it can be produced in a wide variety of sizes.
