Kilis Yemeni

A shoe with a red or black leather upper and a leather sole is called Yemeni, and those engaged in this business are called Köşger. Yemeni, which was produced as a local shoe of the Southeastern Anatolia region and worn by the people in the past, has been revived by the masters from Gaziantep and Kilis today.

In the region, those who sell food are called “Köşker” and those who sell food are called “Kavaf”. The word Köşker comes from the Persian word “keşfger” and means shoemaker.

While the Yemeni masters, who have opened one business in the Wood Market in recent years, are reviving the Yemeni profession in Kilis, the use of Yemeni is increasing day by day among the people.
