Mahrama

The headscarf is a kind of veil and clothing that covers most or all of the upper part of the head, which is used to protect the head, especially the hair from external abrasive factors, to cover and not be recognized. It is a type of weaving made by using cotton yarn in different colors in a thin and long way (it does not have a standard size, it varies between 25-45x100-150 cm) to be used as a towel or waist belt in the past. It is also called long handkerchief in the region. Mahrama, which is widely seen in Durağan and Boyabat districts and made on hand looms called "order," is woven by throwing yarn more frequently than other weavings and placing local motifs on both ends of the cover.
