Öküzgözü and Boğazkere Grapes
Around 60 different grape species are grown in Elazığ. This fruit is the city's most important agricultural product. And two of these grapes, Öküzgözü and Boğazkere, are among the Geographically Indicated products of Elazığ. Öküzgözü, a large, round-grained, dark-colored and fleshy grape, and Boğazkere grapes, which are also dark-colored and aromatic, yield very successful results as wine grapes. Although a small number of establishments in the region produce wine, these boutique wines are of high quality to win many awards. These grapes, which are exported to many parts of the country and consumed as fruit, are also used in making orcik and fruit pulp, which are important flavors of Elazığ.
