Riza Basket

Due to the rough terrain of Rize, in the past, most of the transportation was done on the back with baskets. Although different types of baskets are produced in the region, the baskets are generally two-legged and have two laces to be placed on the back. Although the ones made from chestnut are more durable, most of them are from hazelnuts. Baskets produced and used locally are designed according to the product intended to be transported; Therefore, it is possible to come across different design examples. For example, fruit baskets are slender, elongated, and conical, and are mostly used for picking grapes (with trellis). Tea collection baskets, on the other hand, are mostly bipedal, their body expands towards the mouth and they are carried by hanging them on the back with the ropes tied from their feet. Baskets without legs are usually splayed and have a handle.
