Sedef Kakma
Another of Gaziantep's traditional handicrafts is mother-of-pearl inlay. In the 15th century, sedef kakma, inherited from the Ottoman period, is continued only in Gaziantep in our country.
Sedef kakma, which is created by placing the mother-of-pearl obtained from the shells of some sea animals into pits and carvings on wood, is one of the most valuable handicrafts.
It is possible to find many souvenirs such as backgammon, boxes, trays, mirrors, chess sets and walking sticks made with sedef kakma in Gaziantep. Since the sedef kakma is a special handicraft, the prices are high.
