Trakya Karşılaması
The folk dance of Thrace, the landmass of Turkey on the European continent, is sometimes referred to as the "welcome" dance. One of the special characteristics of this region is the use of two drums and two zurnas. The word meaning of welcome in Turkish means "greeting or welcome". Thracian Folk Dances start with a slow rhythm but gradually accelerate. The male dancers have very interesting steps and moves and the music is catchy. In folk dances, which are now traditional, male and female dancers perform their movements independently of each other. Turning, kneeling, clapping are the most common figures of dances. Traditional handkerchiefs used by dancers are handcrafted and embroidered. The dancers often face each other as men and women, holding hands or standing shoulder to shoulder.
