Sarıyar Dam
Sarıyar Dam (Hasan Polatkan Dam) is in the Sarıyar neighborhood of Nallıhan and is a dam for hydroelectric energy production built on the Sakarya River between 1951 and 1956. The body volume of the concrete gravity dam is 568,000 m3 and its height from the stream bed is 90 m. The volume of the lake at normal water level is 1,900 hm3, and at normal water level the lake is 83.83 km2. The power plant operates with 4 alternators, and 378 GWh hours of electrical energy are obtained annually from the 160 MW hydro-electric power plant. It is Turkey's first large HEPP (hydroelectric power plant) dam. It has the only power plant workshop in Turkey. Türkiye ranks 6th in the dam lake rankings. The dam basin is afforested within the framework of the green belt afforestation action plan.
