Akçakent
Akçakent was founded in 1884 by Circassian immigrants who migrated from the Caucasus. The first 12 families settled in Eskiyurt, where the ruins of Axca Village/(Oxcanlı) are located, 1 km North of Akçakent. Due to the rugged and creek bed of the settled place, this place was not liked and they moved to the current settlement together with the 70 households that came later. In the first settlement of Akçakent, this settlement was named Şehricedit, which means "new city". It is said that malaria patients came to Akçakent and found healing, believing that the water and air of Akçakent were good for the treatment of malaria, which was common in the environment in 1909. For this reason, the name "Malaria" is widely used among the people.
It is seen from the church ruins found in Hacıfakılı village of our district that it belongs to the late Byzantine period, and that settled life in the surrounding villages dates back to earlier times.
On February 20, 1965, the name of the village of Şehricedit was changed to Akçakent and turned into a sub-district center. While Akçakent was a sub-district center of the Çiçekdağı District, it gained the status of a district with the Law No. 3644 dated 9 May 1990.
