Altıeylül
It was established with the Law No. 6360 adopted in the General Assembly of the Assembly on 12 November 2012 and the first district governor was appointed on 2 September 2013. With the 2014 Turkish local elections, the first mayor was elected to the district.
With the division of the previously located Merkez district into Altıeylül and Karesi, 13 central neighborhoods and 81 rural neighborhoods were connected to the district.Since Balıkesir province has gained metropolitan status, villages have also received neighborhood status. Currently, there are 94 neighborhoods in the district of Altıeylül.
The old Balıkesir Municipality building, which was allocated by Balıkesir Metropolitan Municipality, is divided into two parts and used as the service building of Altıeylül and Karesi Municipalities.
