Altınekin

Altınekin is a district of Konya Province.

The history of the district goes back to very old times. The district, which was an important trade center during the Anatolian Seljuks period, lived its brightest period in this period. Zıvarık Inn, located in the city center, is the most important building remaining from this period.

However, as the land was barren and the historical Silk Road could not preserve its former importance, the commercial life in the district became dull in parallel with the decline of Anatolian trade. In the Ottoman period, it was a famous region for agriculture and horse breeding.

In the Republican Period, it became a developed settlement center with all public institutions. However, with the transfer of these institutions to other districts, it turned into a small township. In the next period, while Altınekin was a town, it became a district with the Law No. 3292.
