Andırın

Andırın is a district of Kahramanmaraş province.

Andırın, which remained within the borders of the Dulkadiroğulları Principality in Kahramanmaraş and its surroundings for 200 years during the Mongol invasion and the collapse of the Anatolian Seljuk State, entered the borders of the Ottoman Empire when this principality was attached to the Ottoman Empire in 1515. .

Yavuz Sultan Selim did not join the Ottoman army while returning from the Çaldıran campaign in 1514, Dulkadir bey, who did not join the Ottoman army despite being called to the expedition, marched on Alaüddevle, and when he came to Akkale, pointed the notable young people who greeted him in the Andırın area and gave the order "Let students be admitted to the School of Enderun". . It is known that those who entered as students were called "enderunlu" when they came on leave, and accordingly "Enderun", and these words were later pronounced like Andırın and Andırın.

With the proclamation of the 2nd Constitutional Monarchy in 1908, Maraş was separated from Aleppo and due to necessity, the district organization of Andırın was abolished and turned into a sub-district of Andırın Göksun.


After the signing of the Armistice of Mudros on October 20, 1918, with the occupation movements, the Armenians entered Maraş with the French. The Armenians, who entered Andırın, which the French could not enter, burned many villages with inhumane acts of destruction and killed those who stood in their way in an unbelievable way. Andırın became the center of the war in Çukurova (Cilicia) during the War of Independence.

Osman Tufan Pasha, who was personally appointed by Mustafa Kemal Pasha for the establishment of the Kuva-yi Milliye Organization in the Çukurova region after the Sivas Congress, in which the delegation was elected in the Sivas Congress held on 4-12 September 1919, was appointed as the leader of Sivas - Develi - Göksun at the beginning of January 1920. in. He came to Andırın by following his route. Kozan was liberated with the troops consisting of group and company commanders such as Osman Tufan Pasha, İbrahim and Ali Yaycıoğlu, Musa Beyazıt, Hacı Zülfikaroğlu, Ahmet Paşa, Musa Kayran and Şakir Bozdoğan, who formed their organizations in Andırın, Andırın, Kadirli, Haruniye, Osmaniye and Haruniye. became the vanguard of the movement.
