Avanos
Avanos is a district of Nevşehir Province. The old name of the settlement, located 18 km north of Nevşehir, was Venessa, Zuwinasa or Ouenasa. The tradition of making ceramics in the district, where there are many pottery workshops, has been going on since the Hittites.
