Bağlar
Bağlar is one of the central districts of Diyarbakır province. Its population is about 400,000. It is the most populous district of Diyarbakir.
While it was a district before, it has been made a central district with a new law. The majority of the population is children. Families living here often have many children and many of them are immigrants. District Governorate building has been prepared in the vicinity of Yenihal district.
Diyarbakır Bağlar Municipality was established with the decision of the Council of Ministers dated 21.12.1993 and numbered 93/5130, following the proclamation of the Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality, together with the first-tier municipalities of Sur and Yenişehir. In the first period when Bağlar Municipality was established in its service area, there were a total of 7 neighborhoods (Alipınar, Fatih, Kaynartepe, Körhat, Muradiye, Yeniköy, 5 April). Later, as a result of intense migration, Bağcılar, Yunus Emre, Şeyh Şamil, Selahattin Eyyübi, Mevlana Halit districts were formed.
With the law numbered 5216 adopted on 10.07.2004, 21 villages (Ağaçgeçit, Batıçanakçı, Cicekliyurt, Çiftlik, Develi, Gommetaş, Kabahdır, Koldere, Körtepe, Özdemir, Sarıdallı, Topraktaş, Topyolu, Yeşildallı, Tellikaya, Uzunbahçe, Buçuktepe, Pınaroğlu, Yukarı Mollalı, Tavşantepe, Batıkarakoç) and 24 hamlets affiliated to these villages were transferred to the status of neighborhoods and connected to the Bağlar Municipality. Thus, Bağlar Municipality has become a municipality responsible for providing services to 33 neighborhoods.
