Boğazkale
Boğazkale is a district of Çorum province. Bogazkale, which carries traces of the Chalcolithic period in its historical past, dates back to 5000 BC, the earliest settlement. Bogazkale, which houses the ancient city reconstruction of Hattusa in the 17th and 13th centuries BC, 4 km east of the district, also took its place in the history scene as the capital of the Hittite Empire. The magnificent open-air temple of Hattusa, in the Boğazkale district, where there are ruins from the Hatti, Assyrian, Hittite, Phrygian, Galatian, Roman and Byzantine periods, is one of the important historical sites of the district. Dölarslanlar, one of the nobles who came to the region after the Dulkadiroğulları Principality was destroyed, had a mansion complex built in Boğazkale in 1664. In the settlement, which was named Boğazköy during the first years of the republican period and later changed to Boğazkale in 1936, the municipality organization was established on September 6, 1966, and in 1987 it was separated from Sungurlu and became a district.
