Bulancak
Bulancak (Laz: Bulamç̌xǯ Romeika: Terastios) is a district of Giresun province. It is the largest district of Giresun (formerly “Vilayet-i Çepni”) in terms of population and economy. The district, which was previously affiliated to Ordu, was later connected to the province of Giresun. Its old name is Terastios.[citation needed] It is located on the Black Sea coast. Giresun's Piraziz district in the west, Ordu Altınordu district and Kabadüz district in the east are Giresun city center.
The size of its territory is 608 square kilometers. There are 61 villages connected to the district. An important part of the local population is Turkmen Chepni. It is similar to Giresun and Ordu in terms of climate and geographical features. The municipality was established in 1887 and became a district in 1934. According to the census conducted in 2015, the total population of the district is 63,368.[citation needed] 43,635 of this population live in the district center. The most important source of income is hazelnut farming. The longest pier of the Eastern Black Sea coast was also located in this district until a large part of the pier was demolished and the coastal road was passed over it due to the Black Sea Coastal Road project, the construction of which was completed at a large stage in 2004. It is one of the largest district centers of the Eastern Black Sea Region. It is also larger than the provincial centers of Artvin, Bayburt and Gümüşhane in the region. It is the most developed district of Giresun province.
