District / Çayıralan, Turkiye, Central Anatolia, Yozgat

Çayıralan

Çayıralan is the district of Yozgat province and the name of the town which is the center of this district. The town is located almost in the middle of Anatolia, at the intersection of the provincial borders of Sivas, Kayseri and Yozgat. Çayıralan, at the foot of Akdağlar, is one of the green districts of the Central Anatolia Region.

The history of the Çayıralan region first dates back to the Dulkadiroğulları Principality. Sultan Alaüddevle Bozkurt Bey (Han) (1479-1515), one of the Dulkadiroğulları Beys, had the Kılınç Abdal Zaviye built in the Akdağ-Çayıralan region during his principality. During this period, there were no villages here, but there were hamlets such as Çayırseyhi and Karalu. The hamlet is a small farming settlement from the village. When Dulkadiroğulları Bey, Alaüddevle Bozkurt Bey was defeated by the Ottoman army under the command of Rumeli Beylerbeyi Sinan Pasha, appointed by Yavuz Sultan Selim Han in the Battle of Turnadağ in 1515, he put an end to the Ottoman Principality and added its lands to the Ottoman lands. Bozok, on the other hand, was included in the Ottoman administrative structure as a liva (sanjak-province). It is highly probable that the first administrator of Bozok Sanjak should have been Circassian Isa Bey.

The history of the town, also known as Akdağ Township or Akdağ District during the Ottoman Empire, dates back to Çerkeş İsa Bey (His tomb was built in 1530), who was in the governorships of Kayseri, Kırşehir and Bozok. The village, which was the center of the township in the Ottoman Classical period, is the sanjak center of Bozok Sanjak. The village was established by the Beğdili Turkmen of Bozoklar-Karalu Community-Yeni Karalu Community (Karalu-i other) who were settled in Çerkez İsa Bey's farm. The name of the village is Çayır Şeyhi village. Before the establishment of the village, there are hamlets called by various names around the village. Karalı-Karalu hamlet is one of them. Today, the side of the high school in the district center is the place known as karalu. The name Karalu-Karalı is very important for the history of the district. In the first foundation of the village, those who were settled in the farm by Circassian Isa Bey are the Begdili tribe of the Bozok branch of the Oghuzes and the Karalu Community belonging to the İnallu group. The known documented history of the district can only be traced back to the time of Circassian Isa Bey. The tomb of Circassian Isa Bey was built in 1530. However, the district is 5 km. There are rumors that the history of the village of Turluhan (former name Torulhan), located in the south of it, dates back to earlier times. No information or document could be found in the Ottoman records regarding this. It is rumored that there was an inn in the place where the old settlement of Torulhan village is located in Kaynarpınar, which is the water source of the district. However, no documents or information on this subject could be found.
