Çüngüş

Çüngüş is a district of Diyarbakır province. The area of the district, which is located in the northwest of Diyarbakır, is 489 km² and its height from the sea is 1049 meters. There is Çermik in the east of the district, Sivrice district of Elazığ province in the north, Pütürge district of Malatya province and the Euphrates River in the west, and Gerger district of Adıyaman province in the south. Çüngüş district, which is surrounded by mountains, has the Abaza, Akdağlar and Savucak mountains in order on the Southeast Toros Mountains. Its rivers are the Euphrates, Cüngüş Stream, formerly Nahrik, and Medye Stream. Karakaya dam on the Euphrates River is one of the important structures of the district.
