Derecik

Derecik is a district on the Northern Iraq border with an altitude of 1450 m. It is 65 km from Semdinli and 190 km from Hakkari. On October 25, 1995, it became a municipality by taking the status of municipality. Derecik, which was a district of Şemdinli until 2018, became a district of Hakkari on 18 October 2018. The population of the district is 22,953 as of 2018. The first district governor of the district was appointed as İdris Arslan. Security in Derecik is provided by the district gendarmerie command, and together with Yedisu, it is one of the two districts where there is no police force yet.
