Diyadin
Diyadin is an old city. Her historical name is Daudyana. There are ancient cities and historical ruins in the district and nearby places. Diyadin castle, Meya village ruins and city and Tokluca castle are the main ones. The region remained under the rule of Arsakli, Seljuk, Ilkhanid, Karakoyunlu, Safavid and Ottoman. In 1514, Çaldıran joined the Ottoman lands together with the Van region at the end of the 1578 Ottoman-Persian War. In the same year, there was an accident related to Beyazıt Sanjak, which was included in the Van Governorship. In 1744, together with the 4 districts of the Sanjak, it was attached to the Erzurum Governorship. It remained under Russian occupation for about three years during World War I, and on April 14, 1918, it came under Turkish rule again.
