Doğanhisar

Doğanhisar is a district of Konya.

Doganhisar was established in Konya in 500 years under the name of Metyos. It was captured by the Byzantine Empire in 395 and was attacked by the armies of the Umayyad and Abbasid States between 704 and 708 AD. The grave of Seyit Ahmet, who was martyred in these wars, is located in the Kızılışık.

After the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, with the spread of the Seljuks to the west, in 1110, Doğanhisar came under the rule of the Turks.

The name of the city symbolized the falcon, which is the coat of arms of the Seljuks, and the name of its castle was called “Doğan Castle”. Later, this settlement was named Doğanhisar.
