Elbeyli
Elbeyli is a district of Kilis Province.
It was founded by the nomads of the Oghuz, Alkırevli tribe, and the Elbeyli Turkmen tribe. People belonging to this Turkmen tribe have different settlements in Turkey and Syria. While Elbeyli District was under the rule of the Great Seljuk Empire between 1040 and 1157, it passed under the rule of Ilkhanids and Dulkadiroğlus, respectively, and in 1516, with the Battle of Mercidâbık, it passed under the rule of the Ottoman Empire.
While it was a village in the Jarablus district of Syria in the first years of the Republic, after the National Pact, when Jarablus remained within the borders of Syria, it was connected to the Kilis district of Gaziantep as a village in 1931. In 1946, it was connected to Oğuzeli, which was made a district, and in 1995, after Kilis became a province, it was again connected to Kilis as a district.
The name of Elbeyli was "Alimantar" when it was a village.
Elbeyli is bordered by Syria in the south, Gaziantep center in the north, Oğuzeli district of Gaziantep in the east and Kilis province in the west.
The land structure is flat and plain, there are no mountains and hills. It is 650 meters above sea level and has a surface area of 262 km². The land is bare in appearance, forest and tree communities are not encountered. The vegetation of the land is generally herbaceous plants, namely steppe.
