Ermenek
Ermenek is a district of Karaman province. The district, which is sometimes referred to as Ermenak (the land of valiant people living on high), was an important settlement that was also the capital of the Karamanoğulları Principality and its population was formed by the Avşar Turkmens. It was ruled as the "Pasha Hassi" of Icel Sanjak. It became the sanjak center of Konya Province in 1845, it was made a district in 1910, and it was connected to Konya first and then Mersin. With the proclamation of the Republic, it was connected to Konya again, and in 1989, after Karaman became a province, it was connected to Karaman.
The district, which also includes Maraspoli, one of the most important caves of the world, is located on the banks of the Göksu river, quite high from the sea.
