Gevaş

Gevaş is one of the 12 districts of Van. Its area is 727.5 km² and its height from the sea is 1750 meters. The district was established at the foot of the Artos Mountain (3650 m), the highest of the Kavuşşahap (İhtiyarşahap) Mountains, which is an extension of the Southeast Taurus Mountains. There are Gürpınar in the east, Hizan and Tatvan (Bitlis) districts in the west, Lake Van in the north, Edremit in the northeast, Çatak in the south and Bahçesaray in the southwest. The distance to the city center is 40 km. Akdamar Island is the most important tourist attraction of the county within its borders.
