Gökçebey

Gökçebey is a district of Zonguldak province. Gökçebey, which was a district consisting of 4 divans (townships) affiliated to the Bolu Sanjak under the name of Tefen until 1845, preserved this identity until the establishment of the Republic. Tefen, which was built as a township in the Republican era, was named Gökçebey in 1963 and a municipal organization was established in Gökçebey on February 29, 1972.[3] Gökçebey town of Devrek district was brought to the status of district in 1990 with the law numbered 3644. Its area is 15,153 ha. 60% of the district is covered with forests. Gökçebey district, which is 51 meters above sea level, is surrounded by eight hills with heights ranging from 906 to 1179 meters. Filyos River passes by the edge of the district and pours into the Black Sea from the town of Filyos. The Black Sea climate is dominant in the district, with warm summers and winters. In the district center, there are children's park and cafeteria areas named Glass Mansion, Municipality Family Tea Garden and Park, Atatürk Park and Tea Garden. Kabalaklı, Pamukdüzü, Kertili (Çamlık) recreation areas, Dark Creek, Kurtdamı and Sarıgöl forests are extremely suitable places for hunting tourism. There are 19 villages and 10 neighborhoods in 1 town of the district. Gökçebey population is 20,996 compared to 2020. This population consists of 10,421 males and 10,575 females.
