Gördes, which has been on an important settlement since the first ages, is written in the book "Asia Minor", written by Charles Lesyon in 1842, and was founded by the son of Kaduz, the king of Athens, of the Ionians. Gördes remained under the rule of the Persians, Macedonians, Roman Empire and Byzantine Empires, respectively, and passed into the hands of the Turks shortly after the Battle of Manzikert in 1071.
