Hendek

Hendek, which is a very small part of the Black Sea Region and a large part of the Marmara Region, is administratively a district of Sakarya province. Hendek, which became a municipality in 1907, was restructured as a district of Kocaeli province in 1926 and was included in the province of Sakarya, the center of which was Adapazarı, in 1954. It came to the fore with the explosion of the fireworks factory. There were dead and injured in the explosion that took place on July 3, 2020.

Hendek district consists of 91 neighborhoods.

According to 2012 ABPRS data, the total population of the district is 75,113.[2] 46,273 of them live in the district center and the remaining 29,238 people live in villages.

According to the data of 2020, the population of Hendek was determined as 86,612. According to the new metropolitan municipality law, there is no rural population since all villages are neighborhoods.
