Honaz
Honaz is a district of Denizli Province. Honaz Mountain, which gave its name to the district, is the highest mountain in the Aegean Region with its height of 2,571 meters and the Honaz district was established on the northern slope of this mountain. The population of Honaz, with an area of 504 km², is 33,765 compared to 2020. This population consists of 18,963 men and 14,802 women.
The history of Honaz dates back to ancient times. Its fertile lands, economically rich climate, underground riches, geological structure; It is the biggest factor in Honaz's hosting of ancient civilizations like other Aegean lands. And again, Honaz's separation of the Frigia and Caria regions, being in a position suitable for defense; has caused all civilizations to turn their attention to Honaz. It bears the traces of Frigia, Lydia, Hellenism, Pergamon, Rome, Iceland, Seljuk, Ottoman culture and history. The city, which changed hands several times between Byzantium and Turks after the Turks came to Anatolia, passed under Turkish rule in 1207. Although it came under Ottoman rule during the reign of Yıldırım Bayezid, after the period of the principalities, after the disaster of Timur, it was again transferred to the Germiyanoğulları for a while, and from 1428 it became a center of liva and sanjak affiliated to the Anatolian Governorship of the Ottoman Empire. Administrative radical change in Honaz took place at the beginning of the 20th century. With the establishment of the municipality in 1914, official services began to increase. Honaz, which was a sub-district of Denizli Province until 1987, gained district status with the law dated 19.06.1987 and numbered 3392.
