İnönü

İnönü is a district of Eskişehir. It is on the Istanbul-Eskişehir railway and Bozüyük-Kütahya highway. According to the results of the analysis of the column capitals collected from the ruins in the area, which is now called Eserönü, in the north of the town, the founders of the town are the Phrygians. After the Romans settled in Anatolia, it joined the Byzantine Empire in 395 AD. The Byzantine structure, which is still called İnönü Castle, is understood from the dens and historical artifacts from the village of Kandilli. It is understood that the town was withdrawn to its current location, that is, in front of the rocks, during the Byzantine period. It is understood that the name of the town was Basilica during the Byzantine period. During the Ottoman period, it was first connected to the Anatolian province and then to the Hüdavendigar province; İnönü, which is a village in the Söğüt district of the Ertuğrul sanjak, the center of which is Bilecik, was the first and second war in the War of Independence. It is the place where the İnönü Battles took place. The village of İnönü, which was occupied by the Greeks in 1920 and survived the occupation on September 4, 1922, became a village in the Söğüt district of Bilecik, which was made a province in 1923. İnönü, which was the sub-district center of Bozüyük district, which was separated from Söğüt in 1926, was connected to the central district of Eskişehir in 1963. İnönü became a district in 1987. There is a Public Education Center, two Primary Schools, a General High School, an Anatolian Technical and Industrial Vocational High School in İnönü district center. In addition, there is a primary school in the villages of Aşağıkuzfındık, Dereyalak and Oklubal.
