It is a district of Balikesir province. It is famous for its goat cheese and curd.
It is surrounded by Savaştepe district in the east, Manisa in the southeast, İzmir in the south, Burhaniye in the southwest, Havran in the west, Balya in the north, and the Merkez district in the northeast.
